Electric Trike Rickshaw - Product Review

Image
Sixthreezero.com Capacity 500 pounds Last week we sold our Vespa 150 Scooter. We replaced it with this electric powered trike. They don't have a lot in common other than Lulu and I can go to sporting events on either one.  This electric trike was made by SIXTHREEZERO.COM. They sell a long line of electric bikes - trikes - and scooters. The company is based in California - but it appears the trikes are made in China and assembled in California. I also helped a bit - it comes packed nicely - but the handlebars - fenders - seats - pedals - and computer are easily assembled at home. The trike was compacted nicely in a 150 pound box. The delivery person brought it up the driveway in a hand truck - and dumped it in my garage. It took about one hour to unpack everything - then another hour to assemble it. It requires a couple screwdrivers and a couple wrenches. The foam packing prevent any parts from being damaged during shipping.  NUMBERS It is supposed to go about 50 miles -...

Doak Campbell Stadium Construction

Image
Friday morning - I decided to ride my electric trike to the stadium. Lulu and I have a backway to the Doak that avoids most of the traffic. It took me 15 minutes from my front door - to the construction entrance at the stadium. The nicest part is crossing over Monroe Street on the bridge to avoid the car traffic and street lights.  STADIUM The Home Side Grandstands are all torn up. They have completely removed the bleachers - support structure - everything down to the bare dirt. All the seats from goal line to goal line and up to the 50th row on th home side are gone. They plan to replace it with some sort of luxury box area for the high rollers. It is essentially a club within a stadium for college football games. They have taken away all of the prime seats on the home team side. I am guessing it will be off limits for normal fans that just buy a ticket to see a football game. The irony is that it is just 4 months until the first game of the season. It is going to be interesting t...

Review of GE Profile Washer-Dryer Combo - After 10 Days

Image
GE Profile Washer-Dryer Combo We recently replaced our standard stackable LG Washer and Dryer. We have them for about 10 years. I was eager to try a washer dry combo. Lulu was happy to just keep our old units. I consider myself an early adapter or adopter. I always like to get the latest and greatest tools and technology. Lulu tends to pacify me. She gets attached to items and likes to keep them around a long time. I always buy something with an out. In this case I have 90 days to try the new combo. If I get buyer's remorse they go back to the store. Most big box stores are good at return policies. Just keep your receipt and packing.  First off - the new Combo costs $2100. The price included delivery and set up. I never used to buy the extra warranty - but I am soft in my old age - I paid $250 for a 5 year cover everything warranty. I sold our old washer and dryer set for $800.  If I have to list a negative - the unit weighs 300 pounds. I would not want to try to lift this mys...

Our Next Adventure

Image
We like to go to Europe for the summer. This summer we will be going for July and August. We start with a flight to London. We have enough FF Miles to fly free.  Next we are taking a cruise on the Queen Mary 2. It will leave Southampton and be gone a week. We will stop at 4 cities in Norway. The Queen Mary 2 is sailed by the Cunard Line. They specialize in old time opulence.  After that we will spend a few nights in London - then take the tunnel train to Paris. In Paris - we will stay with the Everhart 4. We will be there for the Olympics.  Finally - we will fly home on Delta in late August.  Our son and his family have been living in Paris the last 5 years. They are moving back to their old home in Washington DC and the kids will go to Washington Schools.

Our Good Friend Mimi Is In Tahiti

Image
Mimi has been in the South Pacific for almost 3 weeks. She started in New Zealand and Australia. Then she was on a cruise going to all these exotic islands - and it ended in Tahiti. She flies home Sunday from Tahiti. She has lots of neat stories to tell. She is a tiny lady - 5 feet nothing - sub 100 pounds - but she is an excellent traveler. Not afraid of anything.

Herbert Hoover Home - Museum - Library - in West Branch - Iowa

Image
Hoover was born in this cute tiny home. Herbert and Lou Helen Hoover are buried here. Herbert Hoover was born in the middle of nowhere in West Branch - Iowa. His parents died very young - a Herbert and this brother and sister were farmed out to an uncle in Oregon. He was raised in the Quaker faith. They have collected several buildings and produced a neat village around his boyhood home.  He was born in this little 2 room cabin. It had an outhouse toilet.  Hoover was an average student but excelled in math. That got him into the first class at Stanford University. He changed his major from math to engineering and geology. He was a successful mining engineer - and took a good job in Australia then China. He came wealthy.  He got a job in the Department of Commerce and became famous for managing help programs after World War One. He rose to the job of Secretary of Commerce. He was a good president - except the Great Depression started during his one term. He was blamed and ...

The Czech and Slovak Museum in Cedar Rapids - Iowa

Image
On Wednesday Lulu was done her work - she had a chance to tour with me. This is a neat museum - but what was most interesting to me was that it was moved. It is a modern museum - but a few years ago - the river flooded and the museum was under water. It seemed like poor planning. But they build a full foundation with basement next door - then lifted the building and slid it on top of the new foundation.  There is a large population of Czechs and Slovaks. I lived in Pennsylvania where many Czechs and Slovaks came to work in  the coal mines. Czechs also were ice cutters. Before refrigerators - selling ice was a thriving business. Wood and Coal kept the houses warm - ice kept the food cool.  After the museum we enjoyed a nice lunch in the village. I had the best chicken ala king over fresh made biscuits. Then we were on the way  to the Herbert Hoover Museum and Library.  Decorated eggs Czech motorcycles There were many exhibits of  the end of communism in the ...
