Electric Trike Rickshaw - Product Review

Sixthreezero.com

Capacity 500 pounds

Last week we sold our Vespa 150 Scooter. We replaced it with this electric powered trike. They don't have a lot in common other than Lulu and I can go to sporting events on either one.

This electric trike was made by SIXTHREEZERO.COM. They sell a long line of electric bikes - trikes - and scooters. The company is based in California - but it appears the trikes are made in China and assembled in California. I also helped a bit - it comes packed nicely - but the handlebars - fenders - seats - pedals - and computer are easily assembled at home. The trike was compacted nicely in a 150 pound box. The delivery person brought it up the driveway in a hand truck - and dumped it in my garage.

It took about one hour to unpack everything - then another hour to assemble it. It requires a couple screwdrivers and a couple wrenches. The foam packing prevent any parts from being damaged during shipping.

NUMBERS

It is supposed to go about 50 miles - with a top speed of 20 mph - but I have already gone 25 mph pedaling along with the electric motor. The motor is in the front wheel - the pedals powers the back wheels thru a differential that allows the rear wheels to turn at different speeds. The bike is 150 pounds and can carry another 500 pounds. Three disk brakes stop everything. The Bafang Motor is rated at 750 watts - with 1200 watt bursts. I have seen up to 4 people riding on trikes like this. I am 210 pounds - so I can carry another 290 pounds of people.

The seats and handlebar grips are brown leather . There is a car type seat belt for the back passengers. The headlight and tail light are powered by the big 21 amp hour battery. The brake lights go on with the hand brakes. There is a horn and a bell.

The computer shows you the speed - distance - time - temperature. It shows you what power gear you are in. It is also a trip odometer and cruise control.

You can drive all day just using the motor in the front wheel - resting your feet on the pedals. You can get exercise and pedal the back wheels thru a chain driven 7 speed gearbox. The Samsung battery can be charged on the bike or taken inside and charged in your home - using a simple 110 volt AC plug.

To me - it actually feels better with two people on it.

Underneath the seat is a large storage compartment - with a strong locking clip. A very nice touch is a stick absorber under the driver's seat. There are shocks in the front fork too. It has 4 inch wide Kenda Tires for the beach or off road.

If you go slowly and turn the wheel sharply - you can do a 360 turn in a very tight radius - like a garage stall. I have a full cover to use when parked to keep away inquisitive eyes.

Improvements - the 3 disk brakes are driven by cables from the handlebars. I will prefer hydraulic cables - like on a car - to squeeze the brakes.

The trike cost $2849. It was shipped from California  for free - it took about one week from when I ordered it online until it was delivered. They offer 30 days money back - free return.
