Herbert Hoover was born in the middle of nowhere in West Branch - Iowa. His parents died very young - a Herbert and this brother and sister were farmed out to an uncle in Oregon. He was raised in the Quaker faith. They have collected several buildings and produced a neat village around his boyhood home. 

He was born in this little 2 room cabin. It had an outhouse toilet. 

Hoover was an average student but excelled in math. That got him into the first class at Stanford University. He changed his major from math to engineering and geology. He was a successful mining engineer - and took a good job in Australia then China. He came wealthy. 

He got a job in the Department of Commerce and became famous for managing help programs after World War One. He rose to the job of Secretary of Commerce. He was a good president - except the Great Depression started during his one term. He was blamed and Franklin Roosevelt won the next election. 

Lou Henry Hoover was the wife of the president. She went to college at UCLA - then got her teaching certificate at San Jose State. She went back to Stanford for an advanced degree in Geology - and met her future husband there. They worked and traveled together. As First Lady she advocated women's rights. She died 20 years before her husband from cancer. 

They are buried together - on site - in West Branch - Iowa.

  Sixthreezero.com Capacity 500 pounds Last week we sold our Vespa 150 Scooter. We replaced it with this electric powered trike. They don't have a lot in common other than Lulu and I can go to sporting events on either one.  This electric trike was made by SIXTHREEZERO.COM. They sell a long line of electric bikes - trikes - and scooters. The company is based in California - but it appears the trikes are made in China and assembled in California. I also helped a bit - it comes packed nicely - but the handlebars - fenders - seats - pedals - and computer are easily assembled at home. The trike was compacted nicely in a 150 pound box. The delivery person brought it up the driveway in a hand truck - and dumped it in my garage. It took about one hour to unpack everything - then another hour to assemble it. Review of GE Profile Washer-Dryer Combo - After 10 Days

GE Profile Washer-Dryer Combo We recently replaced our standard stackable LG Washer and Dryer. We have them for about 10 years. I was eager to try a washer dry combo. Lulu was happy to just keep our old units. I consider myself an early adapter or adopter. I always like to get the latest and greatest tools and technology. Lulu tends to pacify me. She gets attached to items and likes to keep them around a long time. I always buy something with an out. In this case I have 90 days to try the new combo. If I get buyer's remorse they go back to the store. Most big box stores are good at return policies. Just keep your receipt and packing.  First off - the new Combo costs $2100. The price included delivery and set up. I never used to buy the extra warranty - but I am soft in my old age - I paid $250 for a 5 year cover everything warranty. I sold our old washer and dryer set for $800.  If I have to list a negative - the unit weighs 300 pounds. I would not want to try to lift this myself.

I Got to Inspect A New Tesla Truck and Also Test Full Self Driving (FSD) in a Tesla Model Y

John's new Tesla Truck John's old - 4 year old Model Y Today I had the pleasure of inspecting a Tesla Truck - they call it a Cybertruck - up close and personal. John - a fellow member of the electric car club - met me at his home to show me the truck. He also took me for a drive in his 2020 Tesla Model Y with full self driving (FSD). My Tesla Model 3 also has FSD but I do not pay the $200 monthly premium to use it. I have autopilot which is the poor man's version of FSD.  First off - I loved his 2020 Tesla Model Y. It is bigger inside and taller on the outside than my car. It is easier to get in and out of - it has a big hatchback for loading stuff. Think of it as an SUV. John bought it 4 years ago for $60000. It has 35,000 miles on it - and he is asking $35,000 for it. So I cost him $25,000 for 4 years of driving. It is a well kept perfect car. It takes some getting used to having the car turning - starting - stopping - changing lanes - etc - all by itself. It was pretty g
