We Saw Jim Gaffigan in Albany Georgia Last Night
The Albany Civic Center - Jim Gaffigan Show |
We enjoy watching Jim Gaffigan on Netflix. He talks mostly about being a father - being fat - and being lazy. Lulu got tickets online - booked a Hilton Hotel next to the arena - so we hopped in the red car and headed up the highway around 11 am Saturday. It is about 90 miles each way - and we took a route that took us to Moultrie GA to see a place where they make STOL (short talk off and landing) airplanes. Unfortunately no one was there - but we did stumble across a craft and junk sale at the airport.
We arrived in Albany around 2 pm - and checked right into our hotel. We had supper in the hotel right before the 7 pm show. We were show seated about 7:10 - due to slow security going into the arena. A couple warmup acts started around 7:30 - and Jim hit the stage around 8 pm. I am guessing the arena was about ⅓ full. We paid extra for premium seats and were disappointed that we were center in Row 22 on floor. Jim was funny - but honestly I ended up watching most of the show on the two big screens. It would have been much nicer in our barcaloungers at home and watching on our 77 inch TV. I know that is what old people say - but I am 76. My seat was sore from the folding chair I sat in.
We had a good night's sleep - woke up at 9 am. There was a Waffle House next door - we had a nice breakfast there. The ride home was uneventful - Lulu had a short shopping stop at Ollie's. Whistle Express Car Wash Club has a place in Albany right next to Ollie's - so I washed and vacuumed the car out for the trip home.
We left home with an 80% charged car battery - we put on about 200 miles up and back. We arrived home with 70 miles of charge left. We passed a few Tesla chargers but did not need them. I charge at home because it costs ⅓ as much.
Before we left home - we bought "Dad is Fat" - one of Jim's audiobooks on Amazon. It kept us company on the ride.
Lulu saw Jim in a small venue in London - a couple years ago. The room she was in only sat about 300 - much closer than we were last night.
We had a nice trip - since we seldom get away from home.
The Flint River was over its banks. At one time 200 steamboats carried cotton down the river from here |
